Shares in Radio Software Technology (SRT) soared by 1.25p to 20.25p as the firm announced that its new AIS (Automatic Identification System) Class A Transceiver has received all formal EU, US and Canadian certifications. The transceiver, which is used by ships and other marine vessels to provide information on location, speed, vessel type and the like, has been designed for use in commercial and larger leisure vehicles. Production and delivery of the transceiver, which is sold at a much higher price than lower specification Class B receivers, are now expected to ramp up in the coming months. Vessels on Europe's inland waterways, 15,000 of which will be required under EU law to fit an approved Class A transceiver in the next 18 months, are expected to be an important market for the device.
